About Me
Hello, I am Ryu Sarnowski, and I am a second year ICT major and I am taking this course for my DMT minor. Fun fact, I am half Japanese.
Passion
There is not much that I am passionate about so far, as I have not stretched out to find what I find interesting, or worth investing my time over. There are two so far that I have a passion towards. One with more time invested than the other.
Passion 1: Video Games
A common passion among others I know, but I really enjoy playing video games, and it has been one of my core hobbies since I was little. I have been playing games since I was around 5 or 6. I was a child of two gamers, so it wouldn't be much of a surprise if I became a gamer as well. Overall, I like breaking down a game's mechanics, like the controls and how you play, as well as the elements inside the game, like items, or other features such as status effects, and damage categories (explosive, magic, physical, etc.). I like to break the information down into categories, and find ways to utilize this inforamtion to the utmost limit the game allows me to, unless I could go beyond the perimiters of the game limitations, because some games can possess loopholes, or glitches that could easily be utilized.
Passion 2: Keyboards
Keyboards are a niche hobby, as it is not a common passion to have. I found out about this passion of mine, after landing on the side of youtube that provided me with keyboard sound videos. After witnessing a couple videos, I've been obsessed with keyboards and have went in depth in order to learn about the structure and how it is built in order for one to work. Since I am new to this hobby, I have not touched on the more specific parts of fidgeting with keyboards, but even then, I have plenty of fun messing around with switches (the part under the keycap, that allows you to press the keys) and keycaps, and enjoying the sounds that multiple combinations of keyboards can create.
Challenges
One difficult challenge I faced was last year, whenever I started college in UW-Stout as a freshman. I didn't know much and my personal schedule balancing academics and a campus job was terrible. I was constantly stressed and often times just had a very irritated mood. This caused me to have a tense relationship with my parents in the duration of the school year. I felt really terrible every time I got angry for no reason and I still regret how my mental state was last year.
Whenever summer break rolled in and I had time to breath, I thought over and planned how I am going to face my second year. After careful thought, I was going to keep myself busy in order to not have time to be bored, as well as change my view so I can appreciate what I do in the second year, and enjoy the school year unlike last year. So far I have been doing good and my mental state has been very stable and heading towards a positive direction. I think summer break was one of the most important things to happen to me so far, as I was able to think back on my first year, and formulate a plan in order to not repeat the same negative parts of the school year again, and try to make my second year as positive as I can make it.
